Male, 11 years old, Black and White, Brown eyes

"Nikota" -- "Niko" is a beautiful, older Siberian Husky boy whom I've been fostering for
a few months. He arrived in rather bad condition, needing good medical
care, good food and love. He was originally diagnosed with thyroid
problems, but a subsequent exam from my personal vet determined that he was
fine and didn't need the medicine. (He's doing great without it, and shows
more personality every day.) He loves going for walks, and so far has hiked
up to 4 miles with no problems, so he'd love to help you with your exercise
program. I've listed his color as black and white, but he actually has
beautiful brown highlights that go well with his beautiful brown eyes. He
gets along with my older female as long as I keep them separated while food
is being prepared, so maybe he'd be best off as an only dog, but he is
settling in to our 2-dog routine quite well now. He goes into his crate on
command, a very valuable trait, and is generally a very sweet dog!

Male, 15 months old, White, Blue eyes

"Billy Idol" -- Billy is in a BASH foster home. He is a sweet dog, rides well in the car. He is only about 45#'s which is small for a siberian and we guess about 15 months old. He walks well on a leash and has some basic obedience skills. He know sit and down. He was tested at the shelter for behavior and passed with flying colors (food and dog to dog introductions) He is housetrained. So far he is a great dog.

"Azul" -- Azul is a happy boy despite his unfortunate situation. He likes other dogs and plays great with other siberians. He was raised with small children, so he is use to being around them., He is not good with small dogs and other small animals. He is a quick learner, but is a challenging escape artist, so should only go to an experienced Husky home. We think he would do better in a home with at least one other dog in the family, and tall fences.

"Gwen" -- Gwen is a young happy female Husky. She is a social butterfly around both people and dogs (small dogs need to be supervised) and loves to cuddle and look at you with those puppy blue eyes. She is smart and aware of her surroundings. She is house trained, easily learned sit and down, and is making continuous progress being on a leash. Just like any young dog she needs exercise and training for her well being and happiness. She needs a family with Husky/working dog experience, preferably already has another dog as a companion or access to playmates that will love and appreciate such a special girl.

"Shiloh" -- Shiloh is a 2-3 year old, woolish, female, Alaskan Malamute who came to NorSled on April 20th from Tulare Animal Care Services with three puppies (also available for adoption). We don’t know a lot about her except that she as at the shelter since February and at 83.1 pounds, is a big, tall, girl who could definitely add an additional 10-15 pounds. She’s fairly easily controlled while on lead and although a bit timid around those she doesn’t know, warms quickly (particularly if you have a treat) and hasn’t shown herself to be an escape artist, fence jumper or digger. She loves playing with the other two female dogs at her current foster home, but doesn’t like sharing her toys, food or treats with them. Her behavior manifests itself in a low growl and then chasing the offending dog away, however, she is totally fine with humans being around her cherished possessions. She rides wells in a car but can be a door charger when she wants somewhere different. As time goes on, we’ll know more about her personality, but for now, we think she’s a pretty special girl, so if you’ve been looking for a big companion who doesn’t act like one, she definitely could be your match. Like all NorSled dogs, Shiloh is spayed, current on her shots, tested negative for heartworm, on heartworm prevention while in rescue and microchipped. What more could you want? Female, 13 months old, Black and White, Brown eyes

"Meeka" -- Meeka is a 2 year old malamute that was rescued from Yolo County animal shelter where she passed the temperament test. That is rare for a malamute. Meeka is very big and strong. She is also very beautiful and affectionate and will lick you to death. She is settling in nicely at her foster home Meeka is house broken. She was most likely not exposed to other dogs. She does not seem aggressive and wants to play. Her approach is to be vocal when she sees other dogs and jump on them. For that reason she is not suitable for a home with small dogs. Meeka is very young, probably under two years of age and is playful like a puppy. She would do best with another dog to play with, a male or submissive female her size. Meeka has not shown aggression towards other dogs but she is a malamute and they tend to be dog dominant. She is submissive with people.She gets very excited when she sees children. I suspect she lived with them. She is rambunctious and will jump up, regardless of how small they are but she seems very comfortable around them. "Takoda" -- Takoda has been a great companion for me and my young son. From the day he first arrived in our house he has always let my son roll around with him, hug and squeeze him, never once objecting to anything that was done to him. He was never possessive over food or toys and always just wanted out love and attention. (recently he snapped at 2 young children that he knows over food on the ground)
At 112 lbs, he still thinks he is a lap dog and would sit on the couch in our laps if we let him. He seems to be unaware that he is a big dog.
He is an excellent watch dog but not a big barker. He loves exercise, sometimes playing with his toys in the backyard all by himself till he is so tired, he lays down on the floor and pants for 15 minutes. He will wake you up with a cold nose on your face if you sleep too close to the edge of the bed and just stare at you till you acknowledge him. He is a character for sure.
So why does he need a new home? As a single mom of a young son, I have my hands full, and recently Takoda has become aggressive towards dogs, not all but a lot . (he does still have some dog friends that he plays nicely with).He came to us as a rescue and was shy and unsure of his place, perhaps lacking in confidence from his first 6 months of life. A couple months ago an old dog decided to attack Takoda and it left him scared and defensive. I don't know if he will out grow this stage of intolerance soon or ever, but I know someone with more time and no small children will be able to manage him. I think he would cherish a home as an only dog with someone that has time to be with him. He is not a dog that would do well left alone in a yard by himself. He loves people and is strong,willing to learn and a bit needy but deserves another shot.
If I did not have a small child I would never give him up, but I have to look after my human family first.


I will not put this dog in a kennel and will gladly answer questions and be happy to meet and introduce Takoda to prospective new families. They can email me or call me anytime from 8am-9pm.
I want to find this beautiful dog a good home, meanwhile I am still working with him on his behavior with the help of some trainers that I know.

"Mobrey" -- Mobrey is a beautiful red teenage boy who gets along well with other dogs and seems to be fine with children. Mobrey is a very high energy dog so will need a lot of exercise. He will need to go to a home where he will get the exercise he needs to burn off that teenage energy. Mobrey would do well with a jogger or someone who like to hike. He also needs leash training and needs training on basic commands. He is a very sweet by otherwise and will make the right person an excellent companion.

"Luca" -- Luca is a 1-2 year old male Alaskan Malamute weighing 95 lbs. He is the happiest, goofiest, smartest, most affectionate dog you will ever meet. Luca adores all people and loves to give kisses. His favorite thing to do is run next to you while you ride a bike and then cuddle with you on the couch afterwards. He is very large but he doesn't know it- he acts like a young puppy and is very playful. It is a joy to watch him throw his toys up in the air and catch them in his mouth. Luca has been waiting for his forever family to find him so he can share his love of life.

Luca would be a best only dog, in a home with no cats and no very young children.

Male, 2 years 3 months old, White, Brown eyes

"Milo" -- Milo is a 2 years old Malmamute mix, who still acts like a puppy. He weighs between 85 and 90 lbs. He is mostly white with a few black and golden highlights on his back, head and ears. He is very people oriented: loveable, energetic and enjoys hanging out with his human pack. He is very much an alpha male and can become aggressive around other male dogs. He now lives with three Mini Australian Shephards, and has become too much dog for them. I think he would do fine with a large breed female or by himself, if the new owners were able to give him enough time, strong guidance and lots of exercise.

Milo needs plenty of outdoor space. Since he is a master escape artist, a six to seven foot fenced yard is needed. He is extremely intelligent, learns quickly but often acts as his heart desires. Milo has not encountered many cats but we would recommend a cat free home. Milo’s personality is one and a million but with strong guidance and training he will develop into a stunning adult male.
